Revery of night, revery of soul

Twinkle to Wrinkle

Just a twinkle in the eye, like a star that lodged with intent of creating a new life. Such a twinkle led the way for wonderous experience of being born into this world. From the very first moment we breathe our first we are warriors. We survived the transition of one state of being into another.

Painful yet rewarding for the mother, we cannot recall our personal debut. Did we suffer pain by being ripped from such sweet existence? Nurtured as we grew into our physical form, safe within our mother’s being. Then after our first few breaths we feel the gentle, loving embrace within her arms as she holds us close, emotions running high. The bond. There for life. Just a little bundle of cuteness, eyes eager, brain processing. Speech not yet mastered but still we make our needs known.

The cycle of life, learning. At first empty canvass ready to be shaped. Then comes influence that paints its own design. Taught of our roles in life. Don’t ask questions, just do. Rewarded for behaving. Sneered at for being different and daring to possess your own thoughts. But how many of us carry ‘what ifs?’

Dare to dream. Dare to believe. No supper for you kiddo! Invisible chains, constant like the mechanisms of a giant machine. A factory designed to churn out workers, one after the other. 1984 is here, Frankenstein lives!

Sky shines down, sun blazes. Sunglasses on! Holiday by the sea, a juicy carrot for reward. Yes, be greatful, you’ve worked hard for this!

Dreams. Another dimension. Sweet, sweet sleep. When we wake ready for a new day of same are our eyes really open, I mean REALLY open?

Comfort zone. Mother’s arms. Canvass full now. Content?

Reflection – It’s a two way thing

It’s there staring back, the writing on the wall
That familiar reflection who’s eyes have seen it all
The face smiles back at her, the one she’s had for life
Lines etched by joy, compassion, hatred and strife.

A canvas of living, with fleshly bound desires
An image of trying for everything life requires
The hunger constantly drives her with urgent requisite
Eating up the time and savouring every bit.

Inside her mind hiding sits the inner child
And when life fights back she finds herself so riled
But the eyes they know that there is lots more to this
And for a moment, now and again, she finds her inner bliss.

Age is like a marker, the fingerprint of time
Like seasons of the year travelling towards her prime
And as the body changes because time is ticking on
She knows there’s something else and she’s not the only one.

Rudolph

Rudolph is a reindeer with a nose so shiny red
But Rudolph is a nutter not quite right int’ head
He has a thing for coffee from a big white china cup
Passing wind and burping while sipping the coffee up
His middle name is Enid but that youll never know
He keeps his panties hidden as he gallops through the snow
Old santa thinks he’s special the leader of the team
The others follow orders but all’s not what it seems
For once their ride is over and they’re locked up in the stable
Rudolph likes to prance about dressed as Betty Grable!

Succubus

Invisible finger the hand of fate
Finds you and lingers to agitate
From without to within that whispered smile
Caressing your soul… at least for a while.

Passion building so hard to control
An aphrodisiac for your soul
Skin is tingling… a feathery touch
Yearning, wanting, needing so much.

Waking your body with carnal desire
Playing your mind, stoking the fire
Incredible feeling… swallowed by lust
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

To rise again, hunger anew
She is calling… calling to you
Sugary sweet this hungry addiction
Body alive… sexual friction.

More, more more, is what you crave
The lust… the wanting… now her slave
Oh blasphemous heart! Now so wild
More! You shout… like a hungry child.

And more there is, your wish, command
Feeding your mind, taking your hand
Fire is burning, flaming bright
Lost in the feeling, emotional fight.

Alive, awake… oh how you yearn
For that sexual frenzy, sensual burn
Your body a puppet… do as she says!
All through the night, and into the day.

Electrical fusion, mere words cannot capture
Corruption, acceptance, pure lustful enrapture
Whispering feeling… that primal scream
Falling so quickly… forbidden dream.

River

Dark caresses the land with a velvet cloak
Smoke from their torches brings a choke
To my dry throat, as I watch them file
Into a line, along the waters of the Nile.

They stand there chanting, to the stars above
Invisible am I, in my nocturnal glove
Praising their Gods to see them through
Mortal tribe, I gaze upon you.

Silvery moon, it licks the mighty river
Quivering lights, they make me shiver
My body so cold, and my senses high
Their passion, it stirs me, makes me sigh.

For they are one, together they belong
As for me, I sing a solitary song
They live, they die, and then they are gone
But fate decrees, I carry on..

Hear their chants, oh, hear them sing
Morning follows night, and hope it brings
Safe within their simple minds
The cosy creed, of all mankind..

Ritual complete, slowly they now depart
Back to their families, within the heart
Of what they call home, as I linger here
I wipe from my eyes a single, salt tear.

Oh blessed humans! How can you know
Your foibles and worries embrace you so
With lives of love, ’til death does greet
Your final destiny, of which you’ll meet.

Ah, silence now lingers all around
The lap of the water, the only sound
Until a single scream the silence breaks
As the truth within me now awakes.

The moon she watches from the sky
As all that was human in me dies
I pick myself up from the sand
As Destiny leads me by the hand..

Tall and proud now, I stand upright
No more reason now to fight
Acceptance dawns, all fear I lack
For once I was gone, but now I am back…

The Wolf Within

The grip of change, hard, unyielding
Tears deep within, pulling, ripping me
Away from my deep, safe, familiar being
Dragging me, kicking, to another way to be.
A biological timebomb, stronger does it grow
Feeding upon my turmoil, lapping up my insecurity
The changes I feel, turning weakness into strength
The thirst, still young, wanting, needing to know.
Battle commences within my now perplexed thoughts
The reality that nurtured me, quickly becoming a stranger
Serpentile the desire to shed my old ‘skin’
To fly freely, whole, on my newly opened wings.
And yet the battle within continues to rage
Inner tears, inner screams, becoming deep growls
Emotional rollercoaster, my change a hard master
And the sweet little puppy dog, grows into the wolf.

Porcelain Doll

I watch the second hand on the clock follow it’s well worn track
The pores in my skin breathe silently with every pulse of my veins
I sit here alone and feel the slither of shivers up my back
And I know that I am not alone but feel that presence again.

Time stands still, I sit here alone and the quiet is deafening
As he draws nearer, my heart beats fast as he touches the skin
Of my shoulder with his icy fingers and his lust is beckoning
Stirring feelings within me that I sense deep within.

For a moment my fight or flight reaction courses through my limbs
But the moment is fleeting as I feel his breath behind my ear
His voice cajoles me “No use resisting, give into your whims
After all, you remember we have met before haven’t we dear?”

He is right of course as we have met many a cold lonely night
Always managing to enter my home with the magicks of his kin
And although I can sense him and see his face with inner sight
It is a mystery to me of where he’s from and where he’s been.

An elaborate game of cat and mouse, a predestined rendezvous with fate
Where he is the cat that hunts and I am but his willing muse
Two little punctures, his lips suckle as his thirst he sates
And I’m but a poreclain doll in his arms as my very soul he woos.

Dancing with Foxes

I dance with foxes behind my eyes
In another world they wear no disguise
Whispers grow loud amongst the trees
As my blood pulse quickens I try to appease
The yearning fire of needing to touch
And the fear of seeing, seeing too much

But fear not should I on this familiar sight
For who on this earth can say what is right?
I know you, I feel you, we have met before
Where once it was opened I closed the door
Got swallowed up in familiar emotion
My ears fell deaf to the heady commotion

Identity crumbled for lack of lustre
I used my strength yes all I could muster
Pirouetting slowly like a swirling cloud
Nudging off that masquerade shroud
Like an old skin so tarnished now dropped to the floor
Once again seeking as I peep through that door.

Matrix

If this was the matrix, would you pull the cord?
Release yourself from the spider’s web, and get your just rewards?
Would you have the courage, to set your mind free?
And rather than an automaton you could truly be?

Your eyes would open from the sleep to see the world anew
But would you have the courage, to see this process through?
Would you stand tall and noble, loudly state your case
And see the world how it really is, an adventure for you to face?

No script, no pressure of being the best, just living life afresh
With time to think and realisation you’re no longer in the mesh
That binds you tightly to what is ‘normal’ putting pressure on your soul
Spreading wings of hope and freedom, feeling yourself become whole.

The further down the rabbit hole the harder it will get
The journey now is yours to take, no longer in stone it’s set
Seeing things as they really are can be a shock to some
But from the very first step take heart, because you’ve already won.

So would you have the courage to take that leap of trust?
Trust in yourself and what you want, eagerness like lust
For fulfilment, knowing, being and existing, tasting life entire
Fuelling your passion leading you on, stoking the eternal fire.

The choice is yours (it always has been) so what is it you will do
Two pills before you, take your pick, the red one or the blue?
The easy way is to stay asleep and carry on as before
But are you the type of character that will open up that door?

For you I cannot answer but I know which I would choose
Forever seeking knowledge, always looking for the clues
Life is life, for all of us it’s whatever you will make it
Live for the moment, here and now, every life is sacred.

Yesterday’s News

When that time comes and your yesterday’s news
When the person you loved has changed their views
And you’re no longer considered in high regard
In their heart, let me tell you… boy is it hard!

Years together whether perfect or not
You’re just so happy that you’ve got
Their love for the moment lifting you high
Trusting in love you’re learning to fly.

It’s like an extra being within your heart
Being ripped away as you fall apart
In their mind you no longer hold pride of place
Inside you feel broken but put a smile on your face.

You walked a world where two became one
It seems kinda different now that they’ve gone
Either you keep to yourself or you strut with a stride
Keeping your dignity, keeping your pride.

Now mark my words and mark them well
You may want to scream you may want to yell
But it comes to nothing at the end of the day
Their mind is made up and there’s nothing to say.

Now this is the hard bit where you bite your tongue
Don’t cave in to the feeling that you’ve been done wrong
Whether you have or whether that’s not really true
The person that matters now…is you!

It’s the dance of life, emotion and learning
You have to contend with that deep seated yearning
Yes, mourn for their presence, own that feeling
Like being smacked in the face you feel yourself reeling.

Then come the ‘what ifs’ and searching for reasons
But love can change quickly just like the seasons
Don’t beat yourself up over what has passed
Just remember some things were never meant to last.

One thing is certain in time you will know
A happier experience where you can grow
Into the person you are meant to be
Away from the heartbreak that’s set you free.

The Player

She hears the phone go ‘beep, beep, beep’
And watches him smile as he reads the screen
Silently within she wants to weep
To this re run of a familiar scene.

“What’s up with you?” She hears him say
“Nothing” She answers with a pretend smile
He tuts and mumbles then walks away
As her heart is breaking all the while.

She sits at the bar staring into her drink
He’s left her alone for ten minutes or more
He makes his way back and flashes a wink
To the sexy young female stood by the door.

“Where have you been?” She asks him outright
He sighs and says he’s been outside for a smoke
“Let’s not start, I don’t want a fight…
I’ve been outside with that big ginger bloke!”

“You always think the worst of me
Thinking I’m out chasing skirt
You are the only one for me
You don’t know how much it hurts!”

She wants to believe him, truly she does
But this has happened many times before
She smiles and tries not to make a fuss
As the female watches from the door.

Back at home he holds her close
A kiss on the forehead then off to bed
“Goodnight darling and before you doze
Think good and hard on what I said”.

She doesn’t sleep, well not for a while
Her intuition screaming, running wild
In her mind that female’s smile
And she feels as helpless as a newborn child.

As days go by they meet less and less
He’s always busy and saying he’s weary
Deep down inside she feels such a mess
But wears a smile as her eyes become teary.

Something is wrong she feels it within
But he tells her she’s silly, it’s all in her head
He tells her she’s fat when really she’s slim
And that flame of belittlement constantly fed.

Their plans for the future put to the side
No plans of weddings or future hopes
He swears he loves her but she lets it ride
As silently now she holds on and copes.

You see the sexy female wasn’t the first
Nor, no doubt, will she be the last
He has to dabble and quench his thirst
As he likes his women tarty and fast.

Years had passed and her love was still strong
She chose to continue to believe he’d stay
In the end this decision proved wrong
As without word or explanation he just went away.

So now she sits here feeling quite down
The ‘what ifs’ and ‘whys’ keep her awake at night
But soon she will make a smile of her frown
As she managed before him and she knows things will come right.

Four

I am the voice inside your head
That talks to you within your mind
If you listen carefully to what is said
Good advice is what I think you’ll find.

I am the feeling within your gut
That instinct that you like to ignore
How succinctly can this be put?
Your safety is what I am here for.

I am the one that’s called your ego
I drive your decisions from day to day
Sometimes the right choice you will forego
As common sense I can easily sway.

I am smiling I am your pride
The one that sets you on your path
Sweeping the others far aside
Consequence being you cry or laugh.

Without us four how would you live?
We are the ones that make you whole
Constantly nudging, advice we give
Diligently following our respective role.

Porcelain

Eyes open, child screams, gulp of air, start of dreams
Sun is shining, world is cold, searching for someone, someone to hold
Who understands, who will know, who’s to be trusted never to go
Porcelain heart, so easily broken, passion hidden, now awoken.

Take the ticket, pay the price, place the odds, now roll the dice
Sleight of hand, twist of fate, porecelain heart it cannot wait
Every pulse, every beat, life is sugar that tastes so sweet
Feel the rush, enjoy the ride, until all inside has quietly died.

Whimsical

Pssst can you see him, can you see him there?
The human male with the golden hair?
Shall we? shall we, shall we make him sleep?
In wondrous dreams lost, he’s ours to keep?

Look at him, look at him, he looks divine
Don’t laugh, dont laugh, he’s had some wine
Quietly…quietly! don’t let him hear
Silence now, as we draw near.

Listen, listen… ha! the mortal is singing
And inside my head the hunger is ringing
A touch on his shoulder, around him we’ll dance
We’ll work the magick and give him a trance.

Sshhhh, shhhhh! now lie him down
Alone be he, long way from town
He thinks he’s dreaming as we move around
Dancing and swirling, no feet touch the ground.

Now lost is he within our grip
From amber nectar he does sip
Another mortal bites the dust
Sated be our whimsical lust.

Meow

You look at me and what you see
Makes you smile and feel so good
I’m a ball of fluff a cute little me
Hiding my claws that can draw your blood.

I’m into everything, running to and fro
Caring not the value of your collection
Of little ornaments, well how am I to know
As my tail swishes casting them in every direction.

My nose it twitches as hunger sings
And I can smell my kitty meal
I climb your leg and pain it brings
That’s my love that you can feel.

I’m cosy now upon your knee
Sleepy kitty quiet and still
How cute am I? Look at me
Tummy full, I’ve had my fill.

I dream of mices, I’m on the chase
A perfect hunter in my domain
Then as I wake I feel you brace
Ready to repeat it all again.

Another scratch I put on you
Coz I love you, dontcha know?
And I’m a kitty, these things I do
Help me learn and quickly grow.

I see you laugh when I try to leap
My adventure being not to touch the floor
From table to chair but end up in a heap
Then tail up high I stroll through the door.

You’re my ‘uman, my personal servant
Pandering to my every need
I watch and study, always observant
And yes I love you, yes, indeed.

Forest

‘Tis midnight in the forest
The adventure now begins
You take your chance along the path
Hand in hand with mankind’s sins.

Hide and seek the moon does play
Like a lover giving chase
Lost a while amongst the trees
Then shining on your face.

Deeper into the forest you go
Though you know not where it leads
Excitement through your body flows
Your hunger now it feeds.

But all too soon you step away
From the path that keeps you straight
Finding yourself walking through brambles
To a prickly uncertain fate.

A young girl’s legs are quick to tire
So she sits beneath a tree
She loses herself amongst the stars
When a voice says “Talk to me

Fear not child, linger here for now
Your innocence is like a flower
Come sit by me and we shall talk
And while away the hour”.

“But sir, I do not know you
And I do not talk with strangers
The hour is late and I should go
For I sense such mortal danger”

He takes the maiden by the hand
As music fills the air
“Let’s dance the dance of all mankind
There’s magic for us both to share”

Now being one for high romance
She gives herself completely
In her heart the melody plays
As he smiles at her so sweetly

“You are my flower, my precious one
Your smile could melt the coldest heart
You lost your way amongst the trees
And now we shall never part”

Just for a moment she pulls away
Her heart beats faster with alarm
But his eyes, so sharp, and full of love
Reach her soul with wonderous charm.

“Oh kind sir, what a beautiful night
How strange this is and yet I know
That through this forest I came to meet
A stranger, but how I love you so!”

“You ARE my flower, my beautiful one
I will love you like no other
Before this night ends I promise you
That no part of your soul will suffer”

He removes the clothes from her beautiful frame
And lays her down to the ground
As the moon kisses every inch of her skin
“In my worship” he says “Love shall be bound”

The moon shone down amongst the trees
Kissed the lovers as they shared embrace
The shadows followed like a velvet shroud
Then the lovers disappeared, without a trace.

Citizen Spy

The people going mental, Mother Nature takes a sigh
Where has all the honour gone? The ability to care?
What price liberty? Say hello to Citizen Spy
That voyeuristic camera that shows that you were there.

Yes, there are elements that need the allseeing eye
But the majority of people strive to live and love
Do the weekly shopping and for the jobs they vie
Whilst the net of politics tangles the pure white dove.

The pure white dove a collective of ordinary people
Going about their business earning money to live
Whilst the higher power worship at the money steeple
Taking what they fancy but harldy willing to give.

The minority of bad apples, care for no one but themselves
And that has led to the world we live where people feel insecure
A world of “I want” “I want it now” as in avarice they delve
We NEED to change, we need to feel, and open up that door.

That door of love and caring, leaving jealousies aside
That door of understanding, knowing that we are all ‘one’
Where people knew their neighbours and smiled with heartfelt pride
And anxiety didn’t hold us back and we knew how to have fun.

I have so much to write and say but I shall leave it here
For now my soul is aching as I sit and ponder so
Religion aside, think a bit, on those you hold so dear
Believe that you can bring a change and to tyrany say no.

Being

We are blessed with emotion, though it’s sometimes a curse
We can feel love, joy and happiness and smile deep within
We also feel sadness, longing, pain, and things worse
We can look back fondly on places we’ve been.

Sometimes we wallow in dark times before
Make mistakes aplenty and pay the price
But that strength got you through expecting more
As each new beginning is a roll of the dice.

We are here to live life, adventures anew
Bad times and good times we all have a share
But believe in yourself, it’s you that pulls through
Through tears and disbelieving, yes, you’re still there.

Don’t think of tomorrow or what has now gone
Live for the present with freshly opened eyes
A bright shining light, yes, you also are one
A sparkle of uniqueness and eternally wise.

Lestat

I was created long ago and as by chance you found me

Darkness was my cloak until you shone your literary light

Neither one of us realised how this would come to be

But now I am the hero/villain of love lost shiny night.

At first my presence was a whisper a gentle balmy breeze

My name unknown as was my existence, my adventures lay untold

Then in your mind my words you heard as your imagination I did seize

And now in words of many a book my fans they do behold.

Adventures of a lothario, wolf killer dressed in red

My kith and kin, the woes the lust…temptation beckons raw

It warms me so as many a maiden take me to their bed

As wantonly they bathe with pleasure at what is now folklore.

You’ll ne’er believe the offers of many a pretty neck

They lust for me, they long for me, fair maidens wait in line

You shuffled the cards and took a chance, found the prince of the deck

My head may turn at such tempation, but you always will be mine.

So drink with me, let us toast the night my beautiful faithful friend

Let us think upon the ifs and buts of your literary wonder

May the story flow, may it flourish so without a foreseeable end

Let us dance the dance of eternal life, let no one tear asunder.

Sheeple

I’ll never be a sheeple no matter what you say

Eventually I will get a job and work from day to day

My wage will be forthcoming after doing the best I can

But never will I ever truly conform to please the ‘man’.

My money earned with brain and brawn like a robot I will do

As much as what is required of me until the day is through

Then get my coat and catch the bus and make my way back home

And enjoy a bath of smelly stuff with bubbles and frothy foam.

Out of work my time will be so precious and all my own

A bit of banter with some friends and a chat upon the phone

Relaxing nicely eating tea and doing what I like

And maybe getting exercise by riding on my bike.

But my mind will not be tethered by the normal every day

On flights of fancy off I’ll go and brush my cares away

Yes my physical time might be paid for but I’ll think outside the box

And that will never ever change for my imagination there are no locks.

No, I’ll never be a sheeple, in the true sense of the word

I was born original and not a part of the herd

For in this ratrace running round no time to see what’s there

I’ll be the one standing out from the crowd with a certain ditsy flair.

Halloween

All hail the eve where the spirit walks true

That noise in the hallway that gives you a shiver

Where no longer the ghost be a hiding from you

From out of the darkness strange things they do sliver.

Light you a candle, one, two and three

Cast you a circle and stand inside

For now is the time that spirits roam free

Walking amongst us, no longer they hide.

Dear witches a casting, a chanting they go

Vampires and zombies walk in the night

The werewolf he howls caught up in the throe

Enjoying the darkness where once there was light.

Soon comes the witching hour, look to the moon

Are you a dreaming or not, does reality fade?

But in no time it’s over and way too soon

As morning sun creeps up and lightens the shade.

Garden

Bitter, this savage garden sweet

Roses bloom, like magical muses

Enticing… bewitching, each petal unique

But in itself, it’s beauty it loses.

The weeds such beauty they have not

But feral they are, an untamed charm

Left on their own, eventually they rot

Wild, unassuming, and they come to harm.

Yet same they are, each heart abeating

Swaying in the wind, as if in trance

Their lives are short, so very fleeting

Leading themselves a merry dance.

Then comes along the mighty Reaper

Care he not, whether rose or weed

Blade it slashes, cuts even deeper

Watch the life wilt, see it bleed.

Stepping lightly through the blooms

Stranger comes, and one is chosen

And as death’s shadow quietly looms

Stranger takes, and death is frozen.

Neither rose nor weed can stave off time

When death decides it’s time to go

The stranger’s kiss, enthralled, sublime

Be it fate – or chance – that deems it so.

The chosen wilting in his embrace

Once more to breathe, of life anew

His piercing eyes and ashen face

Nothing more can death now do.

Of Life

Ah sweet life, oh what a tune

To dance to the rhythm of the drums

Today then tomorrow comes all too soon

Embracing with zest, life as it comes.

Friends we greet, spending hours… maybe years

Nurturing the friendship and reaping rewards

Through laughter, joy, and yes, sometimes tears

We welcome the future as it comes towards…

Our family, our kin, the ones in our life

We grow from their influence, as they do with ours

A mixture of passion, love, also strife

The wild, untamed garden, with us as it’s flowers.

With age comes wisdom, or so it is told

With youth is the vigor for adventures anew

Hold onto your heart, don’t let it grow old

Listen to your inner child as it whispers to you.

Breathe the air, of nature, with fervour

Smell the blooms, so beautifully rife

Use your eyes to look even further

Taste the bittersweet essence of life.
